It will melt away the tension and relieve the stress. 15 or 30 minute therapy $15/30 Muscle Stimulation Electrical muscle stimulation (muscle stim) is the use of varying voltage currents which are applied in specific frequency ranges and intensities to increase circulation, repair damaged tissue, strengthen muscle and increase muscle control. In addition, muscle stimulation can decrease muscle spasm, pain, inflammation and edema. Many parameters of muscle stim can be altered to achieve the desired effect. At Kinetx Chiropractic, we most often use low and high volt galvanic, Russian stim and biphasic. With muscle stim, you will experience anything from a light tingling sensation to a deep, muscle-pumping contraction, depending on the setting of the machine and your individual need. Cold Laser Therapy Cold Laser is an advanced therapy with which photons, the basic units of light, are applied at a wavelength appropriate to penetrate your skin and be absorbed in the underlying tissues. Each photon transmits energy to power metabolic processes while synthesizing biological materials like DNA, RNA, proteins, and enzymes needed to repair and regenerate your damaged tissues. Cold laser dramatically speeds recovery, especially for conditions in the acute stage (involving inflammation and/or spasm). Tissues treatable with laser include; muscles, discs, nerves, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, bursae and fascia. Cold laser also helps to decrease pain by direct modulation of prostaglandins and nitric oxide, which are pain-inducing chemicals. Each treatment takes about 3 minutes and the effects are immediate. Ultrasound Therapeutic ultrasound is a form of deep heat. Treatment involves an applicator which produces a high-frequency, inaudible sound. The goal is to promote circulation, break up scar tissue and stimulate healing. You experience a very light, velvety warming sensation with this physiotherapy. Gel is applied to the region receiving treatment and a metallic, smooth applicator glides over the area involved. Therapy takes anywhere from 5-10 minutes. Moist Heat Heat is applied to increase temperature. The effect of therapy is increased metabolism and blood flow, decreased pain, and removed toxic bi-products. Moist heat works well to speed healing with chronic conditions and also to warm an area prior to treatment. We recommend that some patients use moist heat at home, prior to stretching, for added benefit. Never use heat on a recent injury or exacerbation unless instructed to do so by a physician. Ice/Cold Packs The goal of applying cold is to lower temperature. The effect of therapy is decreased metabolism and circulation, decreased pain, and reduction of muscle spasms. Cold is applied to acute conditions (recent injuries) and exacerbations (flare-ups) to slow the inflammatory process during the first 24-48 hours and relieve pain. New advancements in cryotherapy incluce compressive cryotherapy which can effectively reduce edema. Chiropractic Manipulation Spinal manipulations (adjustments) to correct subluxations (joint dysfunctions) are what distinguish doctors of chiropractic from any other type of health care professional. The term “adjustment” refers to the specific force chiropractors apply to vertebrae (bones of the spinal column) that have abnormal movement patterns, are out of alignment or fail to function normally. Although the emphasis is on the spine, chiropractic can benefit almost any joint in the body, from the rigid joints of the skull, to the toes. The objective of chiropractic adjustments is to reduce joint restriction. In doing so, there is increased range of motion, reduced nerve irritability, reduced muscle spasm, reduced pain, and improved function. Because your nervous system correlates 100% to the function of the vertebrae that make up your spinal column, adjustments improve upon many of your bodily functions. The chiropractic adjustment is a well controlled thrust applied to a vertebra for the purpose of correcting its position, movement, or both. We choose from many techniques, varying from gentle to high intensity, dependent upon age, the specific condition being treated and needs of the patient. Examination and diagnosis determine which techniques will result in the greatest benefit. Initial treatments are directed towards decreasing pain and promoting healing, with the ultimate goal of improving function and mechanics. There is no therapy or profession that corrects segmental joint motion as effective as chiropractic. Flexion Distraction Spinal Manipulation Flexion Distraction is a chiropractic manipulation for the lower back and pelvic region. A specialized table allows for gentle, controlled, distractive force to open the spinal segments. Through the use of a rhythmic, pumping motion, the joints are stretched along the spine. Flexion Distraction is used at Kinetx for the actue stages of care because of the soothing, deep stretch felt in regions of high compression. Spinal motion and circulation are improved and often times, instant relief experienced. www.coxtechnic.com Custom Orthotics Many people benefit from added support to the feet during long work days and athletic activities. Problems such as flat feet, plantar fasciitis, ankle and foot pain or repetitive sprain benefit directly from custom orthotics. Wear and tear on the feet means wear and tear on the knees, hips and spine. We use The Orthotic Group for custom made inserts and complete footwear. We have several support and sport-specific materials that range from everyday inserts to running or golf specific products. To diagnose your biomechanics, you will need to undergo functional testing and assesment. This method of analysis provides much more information and accurate construction into your orthotic than traditional casting. www. theorthoticgroup.com Manual Applied Therapy Manual therapies are used on most of our patients. Manual therapies are treatments which are performed by a doctor or therapist, who uses their hands to benefit your joints or soft tissues. The goal is to improve or correct function, relieve pain, increase range of motion, and speed healing. The applications are highly controlled with respect to depth, rhythm, and rate. A few examples are Nimmo, joint mobilization, active release technique, Graston Technique®, trigger point and myofascial release. Stretching Most of our patients are stretched by a doctor during their visits. Our Exercise Specialist will prescribe a stretching postural routine to perform at home, as well. The benefits of stretching are to improve muscle function, balance the distribution of muscle forces, enhance posture and decrease pain. The number of repetitions, type of stretch, and location are dependent on your individual need. Combined with chiropractic manipulation, physiotherapies and exercise, stretching dramatically enhances speed of recovery and long-term outcomes. Two of Kinetx's favorites are Post-Facilitative Stretch and Post-Isometric Relaxation. Core Exercise Core muscles lie deep within the torso, attaching along the spine, pelvis and shoulder blades, and are the foundation for all bodily movement. We use a variety of techniques to train the core muscles with respect to speed, strength, coordination and in terms of co-activation using multiple muscle groups. Most of the therapies are reproducible in your own home so you can continue your program after discharge. We focus your core training here using MedX Abdominal Isolator equipment, stability balls, floor exercises and medicine balls. Neuromuscular Re-education training This type of exercise builds the foundation of a healthy spine. Our therapies focus on getting your muscles and joints to work together more efficiently and in proper patterns to protect your spine through fast, deliberate reaction to everyday stress. We use the patented ATM-2 clinical system, advanced pressure biofeedback exercises, stability board training and body blades, just to name a few.
