Frequently asked questions

To find out if Kinetx Chiropractic and Rehabilitation is right for you, explore the most frequently asked questions below.

What we do

01

What makes Kinetx Chiropractic different from traditional Chiropractors or Physica therapists?

That's a loaded question, but probably the most important. Training would be the biggest. As a lifelong learner Dr. Serafim has expanded his skills by studying with some of the leading pioneers in physical medicine. There is a new approach to physical rehabilitation and keeping up with that knowledge base is critical to provide exceptional care. Certifications and Degrees include:

-Board Certified Rehab specialist

-Sports and Conditioning Specialist

-Functional Movement Systems Level 2

-ConnectX (advanced Graston like technique)

02

So, how does that change the approach Kinetx takes to restoring function?

Vladimir Janda was a pioneer of physical medicine. He sparked a new drive to identify the root causes of injury and dysfunction. This allowed practitioners to address the root cause of the dysfunction. He had many notable quotes but one of the most poignant was "He who chases the site of pain is lost".

A comprehensive exam and history lead to a pinpoint diagnosis, that not only allows for the patient to heal in record time, but it also provides the patient strategies to prevent it from happening again.

Kinetx uses traditional orthopedic testing as well as movement analysis or "functional evaluation" to restore and more importantly maintain pain free function.

03

How fast should I expect results?

Like most things the answer is and always should be it depends. Many of our patients have dramatic positive changes in the first visit. Problems that have been affecting patients for a longer duration will see a more gradual lessening of their symptoms. The wonderful part is that many of our patients come to us as a last resort before surgery and ultimately can avoid surgical intervention.

Benchmarks for progress are discussed the first visit, if those benchmarks cannot be reached a re-evaluation is needed and, in some cases, we provide a script for MRI or X-rays. In some cases, outside referrals are also made.

04

What does it cost and is it covered by insurance?

Kinetx will never turn away someone in need/. Our rates are billed in time increments. The amount of patient to provider time is also hard to find anywhere else. Most if not all care is personally rendered by Dr. Serafim. Kinetx is in network with all teh major Blue's ( Highmark, Capital and Personal choice) as well as Aetna. Cash rates are $100 per hour, but every visit is time dependent.

05

What does a traditional visit look like?

Every visit is unique and every protocol has phases.

Patients in pain will find it hard to follow the traditional method of physical therapy where you are asked to perform exercises (many times with little or no supervision by the actual PT). So, in acute cases the spasms and lack of mobility have to be addressed. Soft tissue techniques are frequently used as are advanced stretching techniques. Manipulations are done when the patient can comfortably tolerate them, never before.

Later visits slowly transition from passive to active. Re-activation is crucial to lasting care and the focus shifts to evaluating the patients' activities (household, work and exercise) and alterations are made to prevent further damage and aggravation.

All care is extremely specific and individualized.

06

Do you treat athletes?

Kinetx has been treating athletes for 26 years. We have had tremendous success in getting athletes' back in the game. Every sport can cause predictable injuries. In many cases our approach of finding the underlying causes provides a permanent fix. In most cases we provide dynamic warmups that are specific to the athletes needs as well as corrective exercises to improve performance and lessen injuries.

Ask any athlete and you'll find most have nagging issues. We treat the whole athlete not just the presenting issue.

Dr. Serafim is also the team physician for the West Chester University Rugby team.
